Andrew Tate has a pretty good kickboxing record of 76-9 with 32 stoppages, but the fighter-turned influencer is now ready to make his boxing debut under the Misfits banner. The 39-year-old has the elite striking pedigree as a four-time world champion and is known to have precision and power. Of course, these days Tate is mostly known for his controversial takes on pretty much everything and his troubles with the law. That said, despite the fact that he hasn’t competed since 2020, getting back into the ring should be just like riding a bike. Of course. DeMoor won’t likely roll over so easily.
DeMoor won the MFB title in just his third fight with the promotion in Nov. 2024. Since then he has defended the strap twice by way of technical knockout (TKO), and now he looks for the biggest win of his combat career since Tate has a pretty decent name. The 29-year-old reality TV star and former college football player will have a distinct size advantage over Tate since he stands at 6’5″ with significant reach advantage, as well. Unlike his opponent, DeMoor has been active in the combat space so he will have that to his advantage, too. The issue with DeMoor is that his technique isn’t the best, which will leave him vulnerable to getting tagged. When facing someone as experienced in the striking game like Tate, that could spell disaster.
Original Card vs. Actual Card:
Dillon Danis was scheduled to face Anthony Taylor at this event before he was yanked from the card after getting beat down at UFC 323 by the Islam Makhachev crew (see it all here). Now, Taylor will face Neeraj Goyat, who has a professional boxing record of 19-4-2. In short, he will give Taylor a much better fight than Danis would have. Taylor is the current MFB Light Heavyweight champion and has a record of 4-2 with the promotion and was last seen losing to Darren Till earlier this year (see it here).
How The ‘Prelims’ Look:
Tai Emery and Pearl Gonzalez will throw down for the vacant For vacant MFB women’s Middleweight title. Gonzalez, of course, is a former UFC and Invicta Flyweight contender, but this will mark the beginning of her career under the Misfits banner, though she is 2-1 overall in boxing. As for Emery, she is pretty much a jack of all trades when it comes to the combat space. She is a former Muay Thai fighter, competes in MMA, has fought for BKFC and even competed in Power Slap. If you don’t know her from any of that, then surely you will remember her for pulling this little stunt at BKFC back in 2022.
In a men’s MFB Middleweight title fight, Amir Anderson will face Joe Laws. Anderson is 5-0 as a boxer with five finishes to his name after making his pro debut a little over a year ago. Now, he will look to put an exclamation point on his little run by capturing his first-ever world title. He will be battling Laws, who has an extensive 18-5 boxing record, which means he has the chops and experience to give Anderson his first-ever defeat.
David Lopez brings his undefeated record of 7-0 into the boxing ring to face off against Luis Garcia in a Welterweight title fight. Not only does Lopez come into his Misfits debut with a mint record, but he has five stoppages, as well. As for Lopez, he comes in with a record of 13-2 to go along with nine wins by way of KO/TKO. Neither man has a well-known name, but they both look to change all of that by getting a big win here.
Interest Level: 5.5/10
Former UFC interim Lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is still chugging along and aims to defend his interim MFB Middleweight title against Warren Spencer. Ferguson left UFC with eight straight losses but managed to “revive” his combat career under the Misfits umbrella by capturing the interim belt thanks to a TKO win over Salt Papi just three months ago (see it here). For many fight fans of “El Cucuy” it was a nice sight to see him have his hand raised after ending his MMA career on a horrible skid. He is still the same unorthodox striker and at age 41 you can still count on his cardio to set the pace. Against Spencer, he is facing a former mechanic turned influencer boxer who has a record of 3-3. Some of you may remember him from his dreadful defeat at the hands of Dillon Danis not too long ago in what was truly an embarrassing performance by him, and a dreadful celebration by the winner thinking he had done something of note by taking out a novice in 15 seconds (see it here). At any rate, if he shows up like that then Ferguson may get his first back-to-back wins in six years.
Carla Jade will defend her MFB Lightweight title against Taylor Starling. Jade is 3-0 in her young combat career. The model-turned fighter is making waves on the Misfits circuit and her stock rises after every win. She is one of the faces of the promotion and looks to keep all of that in tact with another title defense. As for Starling, she made her name under the BKFC banner and has a record of 5-4, so she has more combat experience under her belt than the current champion. This is her opportunity to get a strap in the fisticuffs game and set herself up for bigger fights moving forward.
One of the more intriguing bouts of the night comes in the form of Deen the Great facing off against Amado Vargas. The two men absolutely do not like each other and tensions boiled over during the recent press conference in which Deen the Great hurled insults and curse words at Vargas’ mother. Now, you can bet that Vargas — son of former boxing world champion Fernando Vargas Jr. — is foaming at the mouth to put paws on his foe. And he will do just that because Vargas is by far the more superior striker with a record of 13-0 with six knockouts. As for Deen, he only has one registered boxing fight under his belt, so his prospects of trying to become the first man to defeat Vargas are slim to say the least.
Enjoy the fights!
