Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano are very familiar with each other. They lowered themselves to Rasenballsport Leipzig’s level for multiple years before Upamecano left to Bayern Munich and Laimer followed suit two years later. Suffice it to say, then, that Laimer would want his French teammate to stay at Bayern. The club and Upamecano are currently a contract standoff, however, as the latter has reportedly been issued a deadline for accepting a new deal beyond 2026. Laimer yet hopes that Upamecano will
stay, though.
“A contract extension would definitely be important. He’s a great person and a great footballer,” Laimer said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “He has so much potential and he gives us so much, both on and off the pitch. I’ve been playing with him for so long and would like to continue playing with him for even longer.”
Having established himself as Bayern’s first choice right back, the duo now play next to each other. After all the years and the closeness the two have established, it would be a shame to see the partnership end so suddenly.
