It’s been a perfect winning start for Xabi Alonso at Chelsea, with two wins from two in the league, plus another one in the League Cup. We’re scoring loads and conceding nearly as much, but wins are wins so who’s counting. Six points from six is what matters, as one of just four teams to start the season with maximum points.
Keeping that run going might be a fair bit tougher this weekend as we make the short journey across town to the Emirates, to take on the defending champions. It’s not likely that we’ll
score bucketloads against them, so we might need to actually play some defense, too.
Helpful in that regard would be the return of Moises Caicedo; however, he remains questionable, at best, with the team set to make a gametime decision on his fitness. It’s not exactly promising that his comeback attempt last weekend lasted just 13 minutes off the bench before he had to be substituted off. Jordan Henderson and Marco Palestra also remain out for a bit longer yet.
Choose wisely.
