It’s become a common refrain after a road game for the Mariners this year, so let’s all say it together: “Boy, last night sucked!” The beauty/torture of baseball is that we get another game just 21 hours after the last one ended.
Maybe today’s the day we’ll see Harry Ford make his MLB debut. You know how we love a debut. It won’t be in the starting lineup though, as Manager Dan Wilson is going with the now-standard alignment. They’ll have to face off against Drew Rasmussen, who pretty well manhandled
them for six scoreless innings in August. That’s hardly damning for Seattle’s lineup, as Rasmussen has quietly been one of MLB’s best starters when healthy over the past five years. He’s only averaged 85 innings per season over that stretch, but he’s also got a 2.75 ERA and 3.08 FIP.
Up against him will be Bryan Woo, coming off his first start this season in which he didn’t complete six innings, going a “mere” five and two-thirds. This is a nice matchup for him though, as the Rays have the second-highest strikeout rate against fastballs.
