Bayern planning on offering Neuer new deal (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
The recent injury situation with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer might cloud things for Bayern Munich, but there are rumors that the club is looking to ink the captain to a one-year contract extension:
✅ It is TRUE: Bayern Munich want to offer Manuel Neuer a one-year contract extension after his birthday. The supervisory board already talked about this. The question is only how much money they should give the goalkeeper. He was injured, and at the end of March, he’ll turn 40. Neuer’s also still one of the top
earners at the club. So, the bosses are talking about whether he stays on his current salary or has to be given less money. At the moment, everyone is saying they’ll give him a new contract if he wants it. In the club, they’re not sure if Manuel Neuer wants another season.
Ultimately, if we’re talking about the treble, he could end his playing career on a high – and what an end that would be! Neuer’s already made it clear that he’s not going to have any involvement in the upcoming World Cup. I heard from the club that he’s gauging his body, and he’s in two minds about whether it’s the best decision to have another year at the club. He knows he’s still at the right level to compete; he loves football, and he wants to play. That’s why it’s such a difficult decision for the shotstopper. One of the people at the club told me he’s not a man who wears his heart on his sleeve; he’s always keeping secrets, and no one quite knows what he’s thinking.
Neuer’s situation is complicated and will ultimately be determined by him. Yes, it does feel like a natural breaking off point for both Neuer and Bayern Munich for him to retire after this season, but the veteran might feel like he has some unfinished business.
Would a game split of 60%/40% or 65%/35% allow Neuer to have the fitting ending he deserves? Maybe. One issue could be his contract. Surely, even with a reduced workload, Neuer will not want to take much less (if any less) than his current financial package of €26.25 million (€21 million salary + €5.25 million bonus).
Brandt, BVB parting ways (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Julian Brandt will be leaving Borussia Dortmund after this season:
🚨⚫️🟡 BREAKING | Borussia Dortmund and Julian #Brandt to part ways in the summer.
“We had discussions and agreed that the expiring contract will not be extended,” Lars Ricken told Sky.
@SkySportDE
This is not an altogether shocking move between the parties. There had been rumors of an extension, but those had faded of late and now Brandt will seek a new place to play.
Despite previous interest in Brandt, it does not seem like Bayern Munich would be a destination.
Werner does it again, takes down Philadelphia Union (Soccerwise)
Two games for Timo Werner in MLS and two assists. Werner’s San Jose Earthquakes took down the Philadelphia Union 1-0:
Hopefully, the San Jose team bus hit some of the local establishments for a a few brews (just as long as they turned down any potential meth being offered to them).
Barca scoping Vušković (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
FC Barcelona is keeping a close eye on Tottenham Hotspur loanee and Hamburger SV defender Luka Vušković:
🚨🆕 FC Barcelona are closely monitoring Luka #Vuskovic and have added him to their shortlist for the summer. Hansi Flick appreciates him. Initial talks have already taken place.
Hamburger SV are pushing for a second loan. #HSV
Tottenham’s clear plan is to bring the 19 y/o gem back in the summer. @SkySportDE
Bayern Munich is said to be a big admirer of Vušković, who seems like would be a good fit for the Bavarians on the backline as a future building block. Kim Min-jae’s future and the asking price from Tottenham Hotspur could be roadblocks for the Bavarians to get a deal done with Vušković.
Bayern not in on LFC’s Gomez (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Despite rumors to the contrary, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk says that Bayern Munich is not interested in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern are monitoring Joe Gomez ahead of a summer move. I heard about the rumours as well, but at the moment, there isn’t any interest in the Liverpool centre-back. Bayern Munich are happy with their defensive options. There’s always something that could happen for the backup options, but it won’t be Joe Gomez’s name brought up at the table. They had contact with Luka Vušković’s management, but the 19-year-old (on loan at Hamburg SV) signalled that he won’t sign for Bayern Munich at the moment, as he wouldn’t be guaranteed regular playing time.
He has a dream: he wants to play with his brother, Mario Vušković, in Hamburg. The 24-year-old has been banned for two years after a doping case. But when he returns, he would love to explore that sporting relationship on the pitch. So you see in his mind what the future could look like: either more playing at Hamburg or a return to London and being an important part of Tottenham’s first team. Of course, if Spurs can’t guarantee the minutes he’s craving, then it will be a difficult situation. Still, he knows at Bayern Munich that he would be only the third or fourth choice centre-back at the club, and this simply isn’t what he’s dreaming of.
Eintracht expecting big offers for Collins (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Eintracht Frankfurt is thinking that it could strike gold (green?) this summer as Nnamdi Collins could be attractive for a nice fee to several big clubs:
🚨🆕 Eintracht Frankfurt expect offers for Nnamdi #Collins in the summer. Understand #SGE are demanding €40 million for a move.
He is under contract until 2030 with no release clause. The 22 y/o versatile defender is very open for the next chapter. @SkySportDE
Imagine if Eintracht Frankfurt kept its players?
Brighton’s plan for El Mala (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Brighton & Hove Albion could be a prime player to land rumored Bayern Munich transfer target Said El Mala:
✅ It is TRUE: Said El Mala is interested in a move to the Premier League. He loves the league, he loves the country. It would be a good option to go to Brighton also. The Seagulls have had offers for him previously. But if he has a chance to get to a club at a higher level in the Premier League, this would also be very interesting! At this point, we have Bayern Munich at the table, who are also searching in this position. El Mala is a relatively inexpensive solution. He’s a player who could be a future Germany international, so it’s a very interesting transfer. However, I don’t think Bayern Munich will do anything crazy to try and sign the teenager. The FC Köln winger’s playing style isn’t a perfect fit for FC Bayern because he needs space. He’s very fast, which is why Bayern are keeping an eye on the situation.
The reigning Bundesliga champions currently have an agreement with FC Köln that if there is any suspicion of an offer coming from elsewhere, they’ll have the right of first refusal. Then they can discuss internally if they want to make a concrete move, with a lot of money going to FC Köln. I’m sure Said El Mala will get his transfer this summer because he’s currently far too good of a player to even be sitting on the bench at FC Köln. He’s not always in the starting-XI and that’s why he’s a little disappointed.
