The news just keeps rolling in with regard to the Cleveland Browns bringing people in for their second interviews. First, we had the news of Jim Schwartz, then came Todd Monken, followed by Grant Udinksi. Now, this afternoon, Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Browns have scheduled a second interview with former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel:
The in-person interview with McDaniels will take place this Wednesday, after he had his first interview on January 12. It’s also worth noting that bringing McDaniels in-person would satisfy 1 of 2 Rooney rule requirements of interviewing minority candidates. Only in-person interviews go toward meeting that requirement.
The Browns have been casting a wide range of interviews, but that doesn’t mean they will rush to pull the trigger on someone yet. They have also shown interest in coordinators or assistants on the Seahawks and Rams, two teams who are still alive in the playoffs. They’ve also seen a couple of vacancies filled — John Harbaugh went to the Giants and Kevin Stefanski went to the Falcons — which narrows the list of available head coaching jobs across the league.
What do you think, Browns fans? Should Cleveland give serious consideration to Mike McDaniel being able to ignite Cleveland’s offense?
