The Tigers finished second at their final tournament of the fall season, marking their fourth consecutive top-three finish.
The team competed Oct. 18-19 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas. They recorded rounds of eight-under-par, par and four-under to finish 12-under as a team.
Junior Alexandra Berglund shot a 65 opening round on the par-72 course, shattering her previous 18-hole record, 68, by three strokes. This marks the second-lowest score in Mizzou women’s golf history.
Berglund then
set a new personal 54-hole record of 208, the 10th-lowest in school history. Her previous best was 213.
Individual performances
Berglund led the Tigers in third place, which is the second top-five finish of her career. She shot 65-71-72 for an eight-under total. She started her first round strong, but ended even stronger; she shot three birdies and one eagle across her last four holes, cementing her career-best round.
Fifth-year Addie Dobson followed in a tie for fifth place, shooting 68-71-73 for a four-under total. In her first round, she finished every hole at par or under.
Senior Fleur van Beek was next, shooting 72-72-69 for a three-under total. She tied for eighth place and shot one eagle, in the first round on hole 5.
Fifth-year Melanie Walker tied for 23rd place, scoring lower every round. She shot 75-74-70 for a three-over total and scored one eagle, in the third round on hole 17.
Sophomore Addie Surber shot 75-77-84 for a 20-over total. She finished in a tie for 53rd place.
Sophomore Grace Crawford struggled in the first round, but improved the next two to finish 30-over. She shot 89-81-76 to come in 59th place as an individual.
Her first-round 89 started with a triple-bogey on her second hole and seemed to snowball as the round went on, totaling six pars, nine bogeys, two double-bogeys and one triple bogey. She improved every round after that, finishing the last 10 holes of her final round with one birdie, one bogey and eight pars.
Team placement
The Tigers ended round one in first place, but were passed when TCU surged to the top after a 13-under second round.
TCU finished top of the leaderboard. North Texas was one stroke behind Mizzou and came in third place.
The Tigers will take a well-deserved break from competition and will return for the Westbrook Invitational starting Feb. 21.
