Rolling to double-digit commitments before the beginning of summer has been the consistent storyline these past several weeks for Michigan, and that momentum could continue Thursday when the Wolverines look to secure another four-star cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class.
Blake Jenkins, out of Katy (Tex.) Tompkins, will announce his decision at 8 p.m. EST and will choose between Michigan, Texas, SMU, Vanderbilt and Alabama. Heading into the ceremony, picks have flooded in for the Maize and Blue
win out.
Jenkins’ timeline moving up before his planned official visit to Ann Arbor for Victor’s Weekend hasn’t deterred Michigan right now. In fact, the predictions were logged following his officials to SMU and Vanderbilt. He’s coming off a weekend in Nashville four days ago, but a positive shift towards Michigan occurred Wednesday.
The Wolverines brought in Jenkins during spring camp in early April which led to the junior locking in his official visit at the end of that month. Cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford has taken over relationship building and communication efforts to help the Wolverines garner top contention status.
Michigan currently has one 2027 cornerback pledge in four-star Darius Johnson, who joined the class May 18. The top uncommitted prospect at the position for Michigan once Jenkins picks a school is five-star Joshua Dobson.
