We hope you’ve been hungry, Syracuse Orange basketball fans.
Both squads are lighting up our Taco Time Tracker midway through their respective seasons. It’s been a few weeks since the last update, so let’s
jump right into it.
Men’s Bellringers
Autry’s crew has earned four free tacos over its last six games, bringing the grand total Against The Taco Spread to 7-3. Kiyan Anthony is certainly a Bellringer on the rise, with his first two career bellringings coming on a free throw against St. Joseph’s and a made jumper against Northeastern. He’s tied alongside Nate Kingz, whose free throw versus Mercyhurst got him on the board for the second time in mid-December.
While Naithan George did feed ‘Cuse fans for the first time with a three in a blowout win over Stonehill, the question still remains: when will Donnie Freeman satisfy our taco cravings? The good news is that there are still eight free tacos out there, so there’s still an outside shot he could win the Bellringer title.
Women’s Bellringers
We’ve got a three-player race brewing for Felisha Legette-Jack’s squad with Shy Hawkins, Sophie Burrows and Dominique Darius leading the charge. While the men’s record ATTS is solid, if you want a free taco, you’d probably want to attend a women’s game, which is hitting at an absurd 81.8% rate. On top of filling our taste buds, the Orange are also taking care of business in the Dome at 10-1 so far.
Seven games remain for the women’s Bellringer title, but with how well SU is sharing the ball for these taco-tastic opportunities, there’s a good chance we might have a split title.
