Tis the NFL season. If you have some extra winnings from a fun first football weekend to place a wager on tonight’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos, here’s my own personal same-game parlay to consider from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Total Points: Under 44.5 (-132)
The main line is 43.5 points, but moving it up a point protects the wager from a 24-20 result, which feels like the scoring ceiling in this game.
The Chiefs’ offense with quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t scored more than 20 points against Denver since
2022. That doesn’t mean the team won’t win a low-scoring slugfest, but that’s what it feels like this game will be.
Rashee Rice: 5 or more receptions (-178)
With left tackle Josh Simmons (Back) out, the ball is going to be getting out of Mahomes’ hands quickly on pass plays. With the full arsenal of weapons available on offense, we should expect wide receiver Rashee Rice to continue as the high-volume target of the team, especially when the game script calls for quick throws.
R.J. Harvey: Over 16.5 receiving yards (-113)
If there’s one glaring weakness in the Chiefs’ defense under coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, it’s the ability to defend tight ends and running backs consistently in the pass game. A lot of that comes from the chaotic blitzes Spags deploys, pressuring quarterbacks into quick throws short of the sticks.
Running back R.J. Harvey will be a handful for linebackers Nick Bolton and Drue Tranquill to keep up with in the open field. Don’t be surprised if it only takes one play for Harvey to hit this number.
Patrick Mahomes: Over 13.5 rushing yards (-113)
This is simple: Mahomes’ rushing over/under line will never be this low, especially after he shows the national audience that he’s not going to be a limited version of himself. He needs to be careful, but Mahomes’ playmaking instinct will kick in to move the chains or convert in the red zone.
4-leg odds: +939 ($10 to win $93.97)
