Two have joined the ground game in Foxborough following recent workouts.
The New England Patriots officially signed running backs Jonathan Ward and Rushawn Baker to the practice squad on Tuesday.
Ward, 28, has made stops with the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020. The 5-foot-11, 202-pound Central Michigan product became a free agent at the 53-man roster deadline in August. He stands
46 games into his stay in the league. To date, Ward’s career includes 91 yards across 22 carries, 52 yards across six catches, as well one touchdown.
Baker, 22, headed to the Giants as part of the organization’s undrafted class in May. The 5-foot-11, 218-pound rookie back reverted to New York’s injured reserve during training camp and subsequently reached an injury settlement. Beginning his collegiate career at Bucknell, Baker transferred to Elon for 2024. His lone season with the Phoenix brought a team-high 859 rushing yards and nine touchdowns over the course of 183 carries. He added 48 receiving yards.
Both join a practice squad that also includes running back Terrell Jennings, who is slated to be promoted in the coming days after reaching the NFL limit in standard elevations.
To make room for the arrivals at Gillette Stadium, fellow back Jashaun Corbin has been placed on the practice squad’s injured reserve.
Corbin, 25, signed during the first week of October and currently does not count against the 17-man limit. Undrafted out of Texas A&M and Florida State in 2022, he has been a member of the Giants, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons since then. His NFL career includes 15 snaps on offense and 118 snaps on special teams through six appearances. A member of the 2025 All-UFL team, Corbin led the spring league with 514 rushing yards while a member of the San Antonio Brahmas. He also logged four touchdowns along with 138 receiving yards and 252 return yards.
Head coach Mike Vrabel & Co. moved forward with one open spot on the scout team after outside linebacker Truman Jones agreed to depart for the 53-man roster of the Titans.
