June 1st has finally arrived, which means the Philadelphia Eagles can make their big move at wide receiver.
But while A.J. Brown is expected to become a member of the New England Patriots in a matter of hours (?), the Birds are said to be adding another piece to their receiving corps.
The Eagles are signing free agent Samori Toure, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Toure, who turned 28 in March, was a originally a seventh-round pick (No. 258 overall) by the Green Bay Packers in the 2022
NFL Draft. The 6’1”, 196 pound pass-catcher has logged two starts in 23 career games played. He has 261 offensive snaps to his name with just three on special teams. Toure’s 31 targets have resulted in just 14 receptions for 163 yards (11.6 average) and one touchdown.
Toure most recently played for the New Orleans Saints last season. Prior to that, he overlapped with new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion for a stretch during the 2024 offseason in Green Bay. Toure was on injured reserve during that time.
The Eagles were short-handed at wide receiver during last week’s OTA practice with Dontayvion Wicks (Toure’s former Packers teammate) missing and Hollywood Brown not taking part in team drills. Adding Toure gives the Eagles more depth and a player who conceivably has some sort of familiarity with Mannion’s offensive approach.
He’s likely a long shot to make the 53-man roster.
