Happy Saturday everyone! Welcome to the week 11 edition of our weekly recurring Where We Be, What We Be Drinking column, where we take a look at what the OTE “writers” will be doing this gameday. It most
definitely will not be watching the games.
AlmaOtter: Bye week for the Illini! I will be in scenic Northern Virginia playing Dungeons and Dragons with my buddies while drinking many beers. You’re welcome for not lore-dumping all of my character details.
Brian: I’ll be spending Michigan’s off laying low in sunny Southern California.
MNW: In Northwest wisconsin. First time at the in-laws’ cabin since…July? My word.
Anyway, it’s just the family: me, Mrs. MNW, and the Wildkits. No in-laws. No expectations. Just some sleep, some bad football on the shaky wifi, and some stale beer that the FiL left behind. Maybe I’ll put my feet in the water for a little bit, because I like not feeling anything.
We’ll get up there around 6-7pm on Friday, so assuming ElderKit goes down by 8, I’ll get to watch most of the game. Drink of choice in the Northwoods is the aforementioned stale beer but also the local/regional distillery, Perlick, which makes a really nice vodka that’s very earthy. Good for a martini with a couple olives in it, which Jeff Winger reminds me is just poser drinking. But it gets the job done and makes Northwestern-USC that much more tolerable.
BoilerUp89: Cincinnati, watching some bball rather than football. Drink TBD.
misdreavus79: I have a multi-cultural festival I have to attend, so mercifully far, far away from my TV.
WSR: Bye week, which is good timing because I’ll be running around the Greater Saint Paul suburban area attending 3 youth sporting events. Will there be Bailey’s in that gigantic Yeti of coffee? Well, do you have a warrant?
RMB: Same place I am every week, Pinky. Sitting my fat ass on a couch in my basement, drinking iced tea (not the Long Island kind), shitposting on ATR. On the plus side I’ll be able to do it without the stress of a Michigan game this week, so that’ll be nice.
BRT: I am disinclined to watch football anymore this year, but have had some health setbacks this week and will be taking it easy around the house this weekend to try to get on the right side of things. Consequently… I might watch some FB. Or not, and binge QI instead.
HoustonBoiler: I already know what happens to Alderaan, so if the forecasted rain holds off I will spread mulch. In the event of rain, there’s plenty of holiday prep work to be done and the basement could stand some a lot of cleanup. There’s no shortage of options.
