The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team is on to the quarterfinal round in the ACC Tournament. Next up is the #12 Louisville Cardinals. In the regular season, Louisville jumped out to a 28-6 lead as Syracuse didn’t make a shot in the 1st quarter. It’s hard to see that happening again, but it’s clear that the Orange have a tough task ahead.
The game tips off at 5:00 on ESPN 2/ WatchESPN and here’s what we’re watching for tonight:
Kevin: Darius’ status
It’s going to be tough for the Orange to knock
off the Cardinals, but it will be hard to see it happening if Dominique Darius is forced to miss this one. Syracuse will need all the scoring they can get to try and take out Louisville. Darius has shown that she’s not afraid of big moments and having her back would be a boost for an Orange team looking to get a win that pushes them out of the 8/9 game in Storrs.
Dom: Staying steady all the way
Syracuse dominated Cal for 20 minutes, then really struggled for almost the entire second half before rebounding in the fourth quarter. If the Orange are looking to get to the ACC Semifinals and upset Louisville, it will need consistency from tip-off to the final buzzer. Especially on offense, the Orange have to avoid a turnover-heavy stretch like it had in the third quarter and get the ball when needed to its best players to put up a shot when it matters most.
