It’s prediction season, with both college football and NFL football right around the corner. With that, I asked the following question this past week:
Who, in your opinion, will be the Miami Dolphins ’ most valuable defensive player for the 2026-2027 NFL season and why?
Below are some of your predictions-
sdphinsfan points to a couple of rookie linebackers.
It’s been so long since Miami has had an active, play making LB that is fundamentally sound and creates turnovers on a regular basis that we’ve forgotten
just how valuable that can be. Rodriguez is the guy. And if Kyle Louis can make an impact, our D will be a whole different animal than what we’ve become used to.
StanleyDoyle1 says it’s going to be a Miami Dolphins veteran.
Brooks, so long as he stays healthy. No reason he shouldn’t have another 100+ tackles.
ROB C points to the rookie for his innate ability to force turnovers.
Jacob Rodriguez because he creates crucial turnovers.
Ejplaya says if Chop is not getting it done, the defense is basically doomed.
If the answer isn’t chop then we’re not going to be a very good defense. He needs to have a 12 plus sack season to give our secondary a chance.
Dolphster is not guessing and will wait and see.
“the defensive MVP race is wide open” Yes, since they haven’t even played the first pre season game yet, I suppose it is. 🙂
MiamiItaliano says it’s going to be Brooks.
Brooks getting a first team All-Pro award again. It will be him.
PA phinphan is hoping to see that chop celebration a lot this coming season.
I am hoping it is Chop Robinson (or any other edge defender) because he sets the franchise single season record for sacks. The Dolphins need someone to get to and take down opposing qbs.
Dark horse candidate – Zayne Anderson. According to Kyle Crabbs, he has been making himself noticed in the secondary. He is also familiar with Hafley’s defense coming from GB.
dolfan70, like many of us, is high on the rookie out of Texas Tech.
Jacob Rodriguez no doubt for me
PlatipusReturns believes that the only hope for success this coming season lies in the secondary shaping up.
If the Dolphins want to win games, we better hope Chris Johnson edges out Zach Seiler and Jordyn Brooks for defensive MVP. The corner room is awful and will need the 1st rounder to step up in a big way for the defense to shine.
The middle of the defense should be an actual strong point.
Phoenix6 has a preseason list of nominees.
Team defensive MVP could come from several.
Jacob Rodriguez
Jordyn Brooks
Chop Robinson
Zach Seiler
Tough choices… but I’m going with the rookie first.
Dave21 has a lot of hopes, beginning with a couple of rookies stepping up.
I am hoping for J Rod and C Johnson to have good years. Not expecting them to have great years but solid years would be nice. Also to have Chop become the player we want him to be as well. Since we are hoping, I also hope our DL only goes forward and they their paws one every run play somehow even just to slow or spin the RB’s . That would be awesome!!
Dolfanjoe believes the answer is obvious!
Jordon Brooks is the obvious answer …………………
Dougie73 says you don’t even have to think about it.
No brainer….. Jacob Rodriguez
PhinsTifosi says it’s a for-sure kinda thing, but I’m guessing he means J-Rod!?!
Gonna be K-Rod for sure.
Well, those are our comments for this evening. It seems as if the majority of us believe it will be one of the linebackers, with a lot of hope put on the shoulders of a certain rookie. I hope the whole damn defensive unit steps up this coming season as the strength of the team, because I think, barring injuries, the offense will be okay. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day.
