The Wisconsin Badgers have added quite a bit in their cornerback room, but they got an interesting name on campus on Thursday night: former five-star defensive back Aaron Scott, according to 247Sports’s
Allen Trieu.
Scott, a sophomore at Ohio State in 2025, was one of two key defensive backs who transferred out of the program this offseason, despite being in line for a potential starting role in 2025. The other? Redshirt freshman cornerback Bryce West, who committed to Wisconsin after a visit this past week.
Scott, considered a top-40 prospect in the Class of 2024 and the No. 6 cornerback, played in all 12 games for the Buckeyes this season after seeing action in seven games as a freshman in a loaded Ohio State secondary.
Standing at 6’0, 195 pounds, Scott is taking his first visit to Wisconsin, which is a huge win for the Badgers, who have already reloaded their secondary this offseason. Currently, Scott is expected to also visit Tennessee late next week, but Wisconsin will have a chance to make its pitch and potentially close the former highly-touted recruit with his former teammate also committed to the program.
Wisconsin has added a ton of depth at cornerback this offseason, landing Arizona State transfer Javan Robinson, West, Florida State transfer Cai Bates, and Oklahoma State transfer Eric Fletcher. Robinson is a senior and a projected starter, while West, Bates, and Fletcher are all redshirt freshmen with three years of eligibility left. They will all have a chance to compete in a secondary that has no starters returning from the 2025 season.
A couple of those additions could even compete at safety, where Wisconsin is losing both of its 2025 starters, but it’s been a good start for newly-hired cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples.
Scott would arguably be the biggest addition of them all, given how highly regarded he was as a recruit, and there will be some big competition, with LSU and Oregon also reportedly interested, according to Trieu. Still, it’s impressive to get the first visit for the Ohio State defensive back, who has two years of eligibility remaining.
