Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (31-44/43-27)
SYRACUSE 4, LEHIGH VALLEY 3 (BOX)
While Syracuse’s game was not played under the big-time playoff lights like Binghamton and Brooklyn’s games, it was a fun one, nonetheless. Jett Williams showed some life with a pair of doubles and Jonathan Pintaro struck out six, bringing his season total to 97 and making it very likely he eclipses 100 on the season assuming he throws another few innings this weekend.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (45-22*/45-24*)
BINGHAMTON
3, SOMERSET 1 (BOX)
The Rumble Ponies got the Eastern League Division Series off to a good start, beating Subway Series rivals Somerset in a tight, crisp game 3-1. Jonathan Santucci got the start for Binghamton and allowed a first inning run but put up zeroes for the rest of his time on the mound. In the fourth inning, Nick Morabito led off the inning with a double and eventually came around to score on a J.T. Schwartz single, tying the game. In the fifth, Binghamton took the lead after William Lugo walked and eventually came home to score on later in the inning thanks to a wild pitch. Staked to a one-run lead, Santucci and the bullpen after him locked things down. In the eighth, Chris Suero gave Binghamton an insurance run in the form of a solo homer, but it would end up unnecessary.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (46-20*/26-39)
SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES, GAME ONE
SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES, GAME TWO
SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES, GAME ONE
BROOKLYN 2, HUB CITY 1 (BOX)
Having won Game One of the South Atlantic League Championship Series against Hub City Spartanburgers, came into Game Two in control of their destiny: a win would result in a championship and a loss would result in a deciding Game Three. Brooklyn struck first in the top of the third, with John Bay leading off the inning with a triple. He would eventually come home to score on a Marco Vargas single, and Vargas would be driven in himself on a Matt Rudick RBI single. Franklin Gomez, who put up two zeroes before being given the lead, put up two more, and then the bullpen went to work. Channing Austin and Gregori Louis combined to threw a scoreless fifth and Dakota Hawkins did yeoman’s work throwing two-plus scoreless innings.
Brett Banks was brought in to finish the eighth inning after Hawkins allowed a slow roller that Marco Vargas was able to field but did not have time to try to make the put out and subsequently allowed two hits, with a Spartanburger run scoring; the second of the two hits was laced into right field and Yohairo Cuevas uncorked a wild throw to third base that flew over Houck’s head but somehow bounced off of the railing instead of flying into the crowd, saving what would’ve been the tying a run. The bases were loaded intentionally to set up a play at every base, and thankfully Banks induced a groundball to end the inning.
The Cyclones went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth, but perhaps gaining some measure of revenge after Colin Houck fouled a ball straight back that went into the radio booth, hitting one of Hub City’s announcers. In the bottom of the inning, Hoss Brewer was brought in by Gilbert Gomez to earn the save and complete Brooklyn’s season. He induced a hot shot ground ball to second baseman Diego Mosquiera for out number one, struck out outfielder Quincy Scott for out number two, and got a fly ball into left to end the game.
For the first time since 2019, the first time in the South Atlantic League, and the third time in franchise history (2001, 2019, 2025), your Brooklyn Cyclones are champions!
