Barcelona have confirmed that the team’s next home match in La Liga against Getafe on Sunday will also take place at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The Catalan giants took on Valencia at the 6,000 seater stadium on Sunday in their first home game of the new campaign and will be back again at the weekend.
The news means that fans are still waiting to find out when Barca will head back home to Camp Nou following renovation work at the club’s famous old stadium.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona
informs that the match corresponding to matchday 5 of the League, on Sunday 21 September, at 9:00 p.m., against Getafe, will be played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
“The Club continues to work intensively to obtain the necessary administrative permits for the opening of Spotify Camp Nou in the near future.
“FC Barcelona thanks its members and fans for their understanding and support in a process as complex and exciting as the return to the new Spotify Camp Nou.”
The latest report on the situation suggests that Barcelona’s first game back at Camp Nou could be on September 28th against Real Sociedad in front of 27,000 spectators.
Yet the club’s Champions League fixture against PSG may have to take place at Montjuic as Barca won’t have the capacity required (a minimum of 45,000 seats) for the match by UEFA.
