The San Francisco 49ers officially waived/Injured Xavier Thomas, per the NFL’s transaction wire. That was the corresponding move the team made after signing tight end Khalil Dinkins on Saturday.
George Kittle passed his physical, which allowed the team to activate him from the Active/PUP list.
The 49ers also had tryouts with three different pass rushers:
Diwun Black
Viliami Fehoko
Ron Stone
Black signed with a CFL team in December 2025. He played at Temple in 2025, where he logged 352 snaps as an edge
rusher. He’s listed at around 6’4” and 250 pounds. At Temple’s Pro Day in March 2026, Black ran a 4.68 40-yard dash.
Fehoko Jr. may sound familiar to those in the Bay Area. He played his college ball at San Jose State. Fehoko Jr. was drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He measured 6’3 5/8″, 276 pounds, with a 33″ arm length—which is in the 44th percentile.
He suffered a knee injury in November 2023 and an undisclosed injury in 2024 that has kept him out of an NFL snap for the Cowboys. He landed on the Injured Reserve both seasons before he was waived/injured in August 2025.
Stone, 6’3″, 246 pounds, was an undrafted free agent from the 2024 NFL Draft class. He’s another local kid. He went to Washington State, but is from San Jose. He spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders but hasn’t played a regular-season or preseason snap.
The 49ers might need bodies for the preseason finale if they’re going to hold certain players, like Kion White or Gracen Halton, out.
