Bayern Munich’s preparations at Säbener Straße are ramping up ahead of the remaining club friendlies, but most importantly, the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.
Per a report from @iMiaSanMia, we have some news as to the squads fitness and individual availabilities, alongside a few cases of fitness monitoring post injury:
- Closing in on comebacks: Ismael Saibari, Alphonso Davies, and Jamal Musiala completed high-intensity rehabilitation drills under head of rehab Benjamin Sommer. All three key players are progressing well and are slated to be available for the Supercup fixture on August 22.
- Doubtful for Supercup: Serge Gnabry and youngster Lennart Karl remain on individual training schedules under controlled workloads to avoid setbacks, putting their participation against Dortmund in doubt. This comes after a report of Karl having difficulty completing his rehab training.
- Recovery: Bryan Zaragoza stepped up his rehabilitation process by returning to the grass for light running exercises and basic ball work following a bout of knee inflammation.
The Supercup would be Ismael Saibari’s first competitive appearance for Bayern, should Vincent Kompany decide to give him minutes
on the pitch, so the pressure must be mounting on him to come back from his World Cup injury in the best form possible. Davies, on the other hand, will want to be at his best, after the addition of Nathanial Brown to the depth chart. Regardless, having them available for the Super Cup match will be a massive boost to the team’s performance.
Do you think Vincent Kompany should start Saibari? Or save his debut start for another game? Let us know in the comments!
