Rutgers forward Denis Badalau has become the fourth Scarlet Knight to enter the transfer portal this cycle, according to The Knight Report. He leaves Rutgers after just spending just his freshman year in Piscataway and will have three years of eligibility remaining to play elsewhere.
Last season, Badalau appeared in 24 games and averaged 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. Despite being hyped up as one of the best shooters on the practice court, it did not translate to in game action,
ad he only hit 30.1 percent of his total shots from the field and 21.3 percent of his shots from three.
The 6-foot-8, 200-pound freshman is from Romania, but came to Rutgers after spending time playing basketball in Italy, playing for Aquila Trento, which plays in the best Italian league. During his time there, he averaged 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game while playing just over seven minutes per game.
Badalau started off the season by starting 12 of Rutgers first 14 games, however his playing time dwindled drastically down the stretch, as he only saw playing time in 10 of the teams final 20 games.
He will now continue the rest of his college days elsewhere.
