The beloved stories around the Cleveland Browns franchise have dried up since The Return. Not all of them, RB Nick Chubb’s quiet greatness, OT Joe Thomas’ Hall of Fame career, and DE Myles Garrett breaking the single-season sack record have joined the long history of Browns stories that must be told.
While the great QB Otto Graham and RB Jim Brown are a huge part of Cleveland’s past, QB Bernie Kosar represents the more recent history of success and excitement. Kosar had recently been dealing with
a number of medical issues, but was stepping into the professional wrestling world for the first time at a TNA event in Cleveland.
Not only did Kosar attend the event, walking Cleveland’s own Nic Nemeth (formerly known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE) to the ring, but he got involved in the action a few times:
AJ Francis, the wrestling in green shown confronting Kosar, actually played in the NFL with nine regular-season games under his belt as a defensive tackle for three teams between 2015 and 2017. That explains Francis getting into a three-point stance with the idea of rushing the quarterback, in this case, Kosar:
The returning KC Navarro helped save Kosar. Francis had attacked Navarro previously in an injury angle. Kosar then used the steel chair to help Nemeth pick up the victory. ESPN Cleveland’s Emmett Golden shared his view of the chairshot at the event:
A lot of fun was had in Cleveland on Saturday night. It is good to see Kosar healthy enough to get a little involved in the wrestling match in front of a crowd likely full of Browns fans.
