If you thought Josh Hokit’s post-fight interview on Dana White’s Contender Series was eyebrow raising, wait until you see the kind of stuff he’s been posting on social media.
This week, every winner on Contender Series was given a UFC contract, including heavyweight Hokit for his ground and pound TKO of Guilherme Uriel. UFC CEO Dana White praised the former college wresting national champion and NFL practice squad player for breaking his opponent in the first round and finishing him in the second.
Not mentioned: Hokit’s post-fight interview with Heidi Androl.
“Me and my new business partner Dana White have decided to get rid of this unentertaining heavyweight division,” he said (and keep in mind this was before White even announced the week’s signees). “Instead, we’re gonna create ‘The Incredible Hok’ division. But my opponents won’t be these lazy, boring heavyweights. My opponents will be sex traffickers, pedophiles, rapists. Hell, you give me those transgenders in there.”
“Line them all up and one by one, I give them a good old American beat down inside the octagon to show the world that there’s consequences for these types of behaviors in America.”
He had more to say after White signed him to the UFC.
“I left the liberal snowflake NFL to do a real man’s sport in a real man’s promotion,” Hokit declared. “And here I am doing just that by earning this UFC contract. I’ve been chewed up and spit out, and I continue to find a way. And I will find a way to that UFC gold, mark my words.”
“A lot of them are just overweight fat guys,” he said of the heavyweight division during the post-fight presser. “Their fights are boring. They don’t even speak English. I feel like that should be a criteria. You speak English, then you could be in the UFC. That’s just how I would run it.”
This isn’t a surprise to anyone who’s followed Hokit’s rise to the UFC. He caught some attention following an LFA win on UFC Fight Pass when he called Michelle Obama a man. He also made several Instagram videos insulting his Contender Series opponent Uriel for being Brazilian, including one he deleted where he said “If you came to America back in the day, they’d call you a n****r.”
Just par for the course in today’s UFC.
