Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in a summer move for Marc Bernal and are said to have held a meeting with one of his agents.
According to Diario AS, Mateu Alemany has sounded out Bernal’s entourage about a possible move to the Spanish capital at the end of the season.
Diego Simeone’s side are keen to bolster their midfield and seem to have identified Bernal as a possible target in a deal worth around €30 million.
Bernal is currently contracted to Barcelona until 2029, and has a €50m buyout
clause, but there have been whispers recently that the club want to offer him another extension.
After recovering from an ACL injury, Bernal has slowly forced his way into contention for a starting spot this season and has gone on to make 28 appearances in all competitions.
It seems unlikely right now that he’d want to leave but AS claim “with a good offer, anything could happen” as Barcelona will need to make sales this summer.
Bernal was linked with a January move to Girona, in order to play more regularly, but ended up staying and has since spoken of his love for Barcelona and how he feels he’s at the “best club in the world.”
