Bayern Munich spent the summer in the United States at the revamped FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament served as the trial run for the main entree, the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Julian Nagelsmann’s first task will be the navigation of UEFA qualifying, starting next week. During the international window, Germany will play Slovakia on September 4th and Northern Ireland on September 7th.
Germany is the heavy favorite in Group A.
On Wednesday, Germany formally announced the 23-man squad that will kick off
qualifying.
Bayern Munich is well represented with four current players: Jonathan Tah, Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka, and Joshua Kimmich. Alexander Nübel, on loan at Stuttgart, was also included. Aleksandar Pavlović is expected to make the World Cup squad for next summer but was likely left out to his return from injury. There is an outside chance that Manuel Neuer or Jonas Urbig also travel to the tournament.
