The 2025-2026 season is officially upon us, as the Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the Campbell Fighting Camels at the Kohl Center in the season opener.
The Badgers played in two exhibition games over the
last two weeks, falling to the Oklahoma Sooners 84-83 in Milwaukee before beating the UW-Platteville Pioneers 69-53 last Wednesday.
Now, they’re turning to Campbell in the season opener, as they officially debut their new-look team that includes four transfers and four freshmen to a strong returning core of John Blackwell, Nolan Winter, and Jack Janicki.
Coveting experience, the Badgers targeted starters at point guard, small forward, and power forward, landing San Diego State transfer Nick Boyd, Virginia transfer (and Wisconsin native) Andrew Rohde, and Portland transfer Austin Rapp.
They also added Tulsa (and former Minnesota) guard Braeden Carrington, who gives the team additional wing depth off the bench. Then, there are freshmen guards Hayden Jones and Zach Kinziger and bigs Aleksas Bieliauskas and Will Garlock.
Jones, Bieliauskas, and Garlock were all in the rotation with the four transfers and three top returners in the two exhibition games, forming a 10-man rotation for head coach Greg Gard.
Wisconsin faces a Campbell team that hired Florida assistant John Andrzejek in the offseason after he won a title with the Gators.
Campbell has a brand-new team, returning only one of their top seven scorers from a season ago. Among the additions is former four-star recruit Jeremiah Johnson, who played his freshman season at UW-Green Bay in 2024-25.
