The ladies are coming off a loss to #8 Michigan, but it was a very encouraging game in many ways. Nebraska was right in that game all the way until the final four minutes. The offensive scoring droughts were few and far between, but unfortunately showed up at the worst possible time at the end of the game. Maryland is a solid team and Nebraska will need another performance, minus the end-of-game scoring drought, like that to get their first win over a ranked opponent.
The Huskers are 12-2 at home
this season with their only losses coming to No. 4 UCLA (Jan. 11) and No. 17 USC (Dec. 29). Maryland is coming to Lincoln after beating #12 Michigan State, 86-70 in East Lansing on Wednesday night. The win by the Terps snapped a four-game losing streak.

Scouting the No. 22 Maryland Terrapins
Coach Brenda Frese brings No. 22 Maryland to Lincoln after ending one of its roughest stretches in her 24 years leading the Terrapins by rolling to an 86-79 win at No. 12 Michigan State on Wednesday. Maryland ended a four-game losing streak that included three consecutive home losses. The Terps, who had lost five of six games dating back to a Jan. 11 home loss to nationally ranked Ohio State, will be playing their eighth consecutive game against a NET Top 35 team when they square off with the Huskers on Saturday in Lincoln.
The Terps have been without guard Bri McDaniel all season and lost former Rutgers star Kaylen Smikle to injury after she played seven games with five starts and averaged 13.1 points per game. They also lost freshman Lea Bartelme to an ACL injury in the fourth game of the season.
Maryland is averaging 83.3 points while holding opponents to 61.7. The Terps own a plus-10.5 rebound margin and a plus-4.0 turnover margin. In Big Ten play, Maryland’s edge has narrowed to +5.1 points, +3.5 rebounds and +1.0 turnover per game. The Terps are shooting just 42.4 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three-point range in conference play.
Nebraska vs. Maryland Series History
Maryland leads the all-time series with Nebraska 16-4, but the Huskers have won four of the last five meetings, including a 91-71 win over the No. 17 Terps in the last meeting in College Park (Feb. 13, 2025).
Jill’s Thoughts and Prediction
If the Husker team that came within a few minutes of an upset against top-10 Michigan shows up, they can win this game. If the Husker team that lost to Wisconsin takes the court, it will get ugly fast. Maryland is as desperate for Big Ten wins as Nebraska and is talented and well-coached.
Ultimately, I think this game will come down to offensive efficieny. Maryland does not shoot at a high percent while Nebraska generally does. The home court should help the Huskers here.
Nebraska 72 Maryland 71
