Programing note off the top, there might not be the usual level of content over the next few days. One of our cats is not well. I ended up taking him to the pet hospital in the early hours this morning.
The cat is going to be staying there for, likely, three days. I should have been a vet instead of a blogger, they have really nice offices.
The Blue Jays outrighted Nick Sandlin. He cleared waivers and has elected to take free agency.
Nick pitched in 19 games, 16.1 innings, 11 hits, 7 runs, 4 earned, 2 homers, 8 walks and 16 strikeouts. The 2.20 ERA is misleading, with the 3 unearned runs, but he held batters to a .186/.304/.322 line. He averaged 91.4 mph on the four-seamer
He missed most of the season with an elbow injury. It’s too bad we didn’t get to see more of him. If we had, maybe they wouldn’t have let him go.
The first thing I saw this morning was someone saying the Jays were going to sign Kyle Tucker. I hate seeing things like that, because, as a general rule, once someone says we are going to sign someone, it doesn’t happen.
I hate guessing who the Jays are most likely to sign. I think as soon as I put something like that out into the universe, the universe says, ‘Haven’t you learnt anything yet?‘
Who would you rather have, if the money were comparable, Bo or Tucker?
The Mariners signed Josh Naylor to a five-year contract in the $90-100 million range. Smart of the M’s to lock him up. Naylor hit .299/.341 /.490 with 9 home runs in 54 games with the Mariners. On the season he had 20 home runs with a 128 OPS+, which is right in his usual range.
You gotta like a Canadian kid having success.
Have a good Monday
