The new CM Punk who returned to WWE in November 2023 has a lot of differences from the old CM Punk who walked out on the promotion in January 2014. For example, the old Punk told The Miz to go suck a blood money covered dick in Saudi Arabia, while the new Punk traveled with WWE to Saudi Arabia to formally apologize to the entire country for saying that.
CM touched on another notable difference in a new interview this week on What’s For Lunch. When asked what he thinks about “Logan Pauls” and popular
internet stars coming into the wrestling business, Punk said he’s changed his tune, as long as the work ethic is there.
“I mean, I think it’s a benefit. I understand the criticisms, and I would probably be levying them heavy against him if I was CM Punk from like 10 years ago. But to see him take it seriously and want to do more. But the way the business is now, it’s almost just like, pump the brakes, you don’t need to do more. It’s fascinating because, everybody hates this dude. And I think that’s one of the more admirable things about him, is how much everybody hates him. Because in our business, that means money. That’s dollars.”
Do you think the new CM Punk is right about viral internet stars like Logan Paul benefiting the pro wrestling industry? Is Logan the exception to the rule? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
