If the Cincinnati Bengals are going to pull off a miracle and turn their season around, it will start on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After their bye week, the Bengals could use a little help from their injury report.
Franchise quarterback Joe Burrow (toe) has returned to practice in a limited capacity. The team has opened his 21-day practice window on Monday, but head coach Zac Taylor said he will not play this week and was noncommittal on when Burrow will return to game action.
Current
starter Joe Flacco (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant. Per Zac Taylor, the plan is for Flacco to throw on Thursday. Flacco played just a week after suffering a sprain of his AC joint and has had a bye week to recover. He should play on Sunday, but they are clearly taking it easy with the 40-year-old ahead of a divisional matchup.
Taylor did say that defensive end Trey Hendrickson (hip/pelvis) would be doubtful for Sunday’s contest, and he was listed as a nonparticipant on Wednesday.
Defensive end Shemar Stewart (knee) also missed Wednesday’s practice. When speaking to the media on Wednesday, Taylor called Stewart “week-to-week,” so don’t expect to see him Sunday.
Running back Samaje Perine (ankle) did not participate. Rookie
For Pittsburgh, veteran cornerback Darius Slay (concussion) did not practice. He will need to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol by Sunday in order to play.
Linebackers Cole Holcomb (illness) and Alex Highsmith (pectoral) were both also non-participants.
Offensive tackle Broderick Jones (groin) did not practice, which will be a name to watch throughout the week.
