Beleaguered Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups has barely been seen in public since he was arrested and arraigned last Thursday.
Long-time friend and former boss Tyronn Lue told media, before the Blazers took on the Los Angeles Clippers, that Billups was alright, considering the circumstances.
When you’ve known somebody so long, you can just tell by their voice— if he’s okay. Like I said, he’s confident in what’s going on. The toughest part just for him is just like his family going through
with his daughters. But other than that, he’s really confident about the situation. So just hearing his voice, I can just see that he’s okay. So that was good to hear.”
Billups served as an assistant coach on the Clippers under Lue during the 2020-21 during the season before joining the Blazers as head coach the following season.
