On another note, for all the talk about Nevada being a farm system for Oregon or other big schools, they are doing a pretty good job retaining their roster. Some players are still leaving, no school is immune from that, but there have been quite a few announcements about players returning to school. Most notable among those are Zach Cochnaue and Dylan Labarbera. It should be assumed that there are some increased funds from somewhere to keep these players and more. However, it should also be assumed that Nevada was not the highest bidder for their services, so something else is keeping these players in Reno, along with paychecks. Perhaps that is culture or relationships with coaches. Regardless, good for Nevada!

There was some non-portal recruiting this week, with a few future class offers and high school commits by Boise State and Wyoming. But transfer portal activity was far and away the most active this week.

Starting today and extending through the rest of January, we are in a contact period (except for a dead period of Jan 12-14). This is the most open of the recruiting periods. All communication and contact is allowed, on or off campus.
