Minnesota Preview
- Minnesota began the season ranked #7/8 in the USA Hockey/USCHO polls, and are now ranked #12 after a weekend split against Michigan Tech. The Gophers took game one handily with a 6-3 win, before dropping game two 5-3 against the Huskies.
- The Gophers have undergone a lot of roster turnover this offseason, losing their top five scorers from last season. Still, they have some players that will likely step up and fill those roles in senior Brody Lamb, their highest-scoring returning player, sophomore Brodie Ziemer, who had 23 points as a true freshman, and junior Tanner Ludtke, a transfer from Omaha. LJ Mooney is the incoming freshman star who is also likely going to make a big impact.
- In net, the Gophers return Nathan Airey and have added transfer Luca di Pasquo. Airey started Minnesota’s first game against Michigan Tech, while di Pasquo started their second – it’s likely the Eagles will face both in this series.
What to Watch For
- Shoot the puck. Not to be a stereotypical hockey fan, but over-passing plagued the Eagles last year and there were a few glimpses of it in the season opener against Quinnipiac. It’d be nice to see the team trust their shot more and just take it before deferring.
- The Eagles’ powerplay. BC had two good power play goals against the Bobcats! Let’s hope they can keep it up this weekend.
