Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is back to fitness and looking in good shape for club and country after a difficult time last year with injury.
He’s featured in two of Barcelona’s three La Liga matches this season and impressed for Denmark over the international break in World Cup qualifying.
Yet it looks as though this will be his last season at Barcelona. He is into the final 12 months of his existing
deal and Deco has no plans to offer a renewal, according to AS.
Christensen therefore looks set to walk away on a free transfer when his deal runs out next summer.
Yet it’s entirely possibly the situation could change in the coming months. Christensen is expected to play more of a key role and will be needed, particularly following Inigo Martinez’s departure.
The big question for the 29-year-old will be whether he can stay fit. Injuries have dogged him in recent seasons, but he’ll certainly be hoping he can put his physical issues behind him in the new campaign.
Christensen was linked with a move away in the summer, but made it clear he wanted to stay and see out his contract, and it will be interesting to see how he fares this season if he can stay healthy.
