“Felony” Charles Bennett still has gas left in the tank after all.
Bennett entered BKFC KnuckleMania 6 on Saturday as a massive underdog to Pat Sullivan. But the veteran of over 70 fights defied the odds
as he delivered a massive upset win with a second-round knockout at the promotion’s tentpole annual event.
The 46-year-old—sporting a 1-26 record in his past 27 combat sports appearances—got things started by showing some excellent head movement, and came through with a nasty, counter right hand to drop Sullivan in the first round.
After Bennett likely won a 10-8 first round, Sullivan tried to get himself back into the fight, throwing some heavy hands at the longtime veteran, even landing a nice shot that had Bennett stumbling across the squared circle as he was off-balance.
Bennett was just waiting for his moment as he dropped Sullivan for the second time in Round 2 and then sent his opponent through the ropes. But this was the last shot he needed to land as Sullivan couldn’t make it ahead of the 10-count and the referee stopped the fight.
It was the first win in four attempts for Bennett in the BKFC ring, while Sullivan drops to 1-2 in the promotion.
