As you’re almost certainly aware, NFL legend Tom Brady recently dismissed Logan Paul’s work in WWE as “cute”. It upset Paul, and apparently got under the skin of a few of his fellow pro wrestlers. Or perhaps they just see talking trash about a seven-time Super Bowl winner as a smart way to get some attention.
Our related link comes from WWE itself. When the topic of Brady’s “cute” dis came up today (Feb. 23), it was Randy Orton bringing it up on ESPN’s Get Up this morning (Feb. 23) as he hyped Saturday’s
Elimination Chamber premium live event. Pete Schrager asked The Viper which celebrity he’d like to hit with is iconic RKO, and Orton replied:
“Well, I did see a recent podcast Logan Paul put on. He had Tom Brady on, and Tom Brady had a few things to say about pro wrestling. I think he called it, quote unquote ‘cute’. So I’ve never met him, but I’d love to meet Tom and hit him with an RKO. I’d say he’d be at the top of the list.”
WWE’s in, and their domestic PLE partner would definitely love an NFL tie-in. Both TKO and Brady are in business with Saudi Arabia; the part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and Paul were discussing the upcoming Fanatics’ upcoming flag football tournament in Riyadh they’ll both be playing in next month when this all started
Tom’s loosened up considerably in retirement, and said he “loves” WWE (he didn’t specify if he loves it because or in spite of it being “cute”. And while TB12’s become harder to hate since he retired because he’s show more of his human side, I and millions of other non-New England and Tampa Bay fans will still pay good money to see Brady get his ass kicked, in or out of kayfabe.
It makes too much sense for Brady to show up at a major WWE show for a viral angle or moment for it not happen at some point. It’s probably just a matter of finding the right event or brand both parties want to plug*. Could it be the tournament coming up on March 21? Or maybe that’s where they turn things up on a WrestleMania angle? This year’s will be back in the building were Brady’s Raiders play…
Either way, who should take out Tom Brady? Is an RKO the best way to go? Or the most successful quarterback of all-time has to be a good guy, who should team with to take out Logan Paul?
* Capitalism really does make everything better.
