We’ve said many times how impressed we are with Duke’s social media team. Basically, when the media was really hating on Duke, then-coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff decided that if the media was going to be wildly biased, they might as well tell their own story.
Duke has done this better than anyone. Really, they were the first team to really do this on a professional level and it has paid huge dividends. One of the best decisions anyone made was to let the players take the camera themselves to tell
their own stories and to interview each other. It cut through the nonsense we were seeing in the media and has consistently told Duke’s story better than anyone else has.
One of the most interesting stories of this year’s team is Sebastian Wilkins, who came to Duke in the sixth grade, knowing even then that Duke was his dream school. He’s been able to make that dream come true. He talks about that in this video, along with just showing a lot of his daily routine. Make sure to check out what he has for his phone’s home screen. It’s a pretty great story. /
If we could offer him one piece of advice, it would be this: he’s pretty articulate, but like many people, he has phrases that he tends to rely on. He’d do well to pay attention to how often he says “you feel me?”
That doesn’t take away from how much fun it is to see a young guy see his dream come true. Couldn’t be happier for him and we’re really looking forward to seeing him in Cameron this fall!
