Oregon soccer battled again at home last Friday against Seattle. They outshot their opponent for the second game in a row, only to come away with a loss.
Head coach Tracy Joyner said after the loss, “We fought hard tonight. Tough result; back-to-back games where we’ve dominated in shots and struggled to find the back of the net.”
The Redhawks scored first with a goal at the 26:14 mark and carried the 1-0 advantage into the half.
The Ducks outshot Seattle 8-3 in the first half, but could not find the net.
Oregon continued their attack into the second period and finally evened the score eight minutes in with a goal by Addisen Boyer. Seattle pulled ahead again at the 70-minute mark, and despite the Ducks’ relentless shooting, saves by the Redhawk goalkeeper kept Oregon from pulling even.
Oregon finished with 18 shots (8 on goal) to Seattle’s 5 shots (3 on goal). Oregon goalie Caeley Goldstein had one save, while Seattle’s Kassidy Kirgan had seven saves, with five of those coming in the second period.
Oregon soccer (2-4-1) has completed their nonconference slate and head this weekend into Big Ten play, where they battle UCLA on Saturday at 6:00 pm PT in Los Angeles. The game will be televised on B1G+.
