If there is anyone who knows anything about having a penchant for cutting in and ripping off left-footed shots in Bavaria, it is Arjen Robben.
The former Bayern Munich star recently spent some time with
the team and took a moment to talk about the club’s phenom, Lennart Karl.
“Lennart Karl deserves the praise; he was superb [against Brugge]. The boy has to enjoy that. The most important thing at that age is to keep focusing on the next game. You have to work on yourself every day and not think: ‘I just played a great game, everything was wonderful.’ You have to keep pushing in training and not be complacent. That’s the difference, that’s why the really good players stay at the top for so long. Getting to that point is one thing, but staying at the top is something else,” Robben told FCBayern.com (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It is way too early to compare Karl to Robben, but it is probably a safe bet that the kid watched a video or two of the Dutchman on his way through the ranks. The influence is tangible, especially with his mentality and fearlessness.
Bayern Munich traveled to Borussia Mönchengladbach for a Bundesliga tilt featuring the league first-place and last-place teams.
The game went as expected — especially after Gladbach picked up an early red card, which completely shifted the momentum into Bayern Munich’s favor.
It was a daunting task to ask Gladbach to hold strong for over 70 minutes and eventually Die Fohlen just broke down. Ultimately, Bayern Munich walked away with a 3-0 victory over Gladbach.
