Bayern Munich Frauen have been extending player contracts left, right, and center, and the latest name on that list is Glódis Perla Viggósdóttir. The Iceland international has just extended her expiring contract for another two years until 2028.
“I am very happy and proud to have been part of this team for so long. The cohesion and the special atmosphere at Bayern are unique – that’s exactly what makes this club so special for me. The responsibility as captain has allowed me to grow both personally
and athletically over the past few years,” she said. “As a team, we are very ambitious and want to remain at the top in Germany. In the Champions League, we want to take the next step and realize our full potential together.”
The 30-year old joined Bayern in 2021 and has since grown into a key figure for the team, winning three Bundesligas, one DFB-Pokal, and two Supercups. She also received the captain’s armband after Lina Magull left the club, and promptly led the team to their most successful season ever – a domestic treble in 2024/25. She also captains the Iceland national team, and led them to the Euro finals last summer.
Viggósdóttir most recently led Bayern into the top four of the Champions League group stage, scoring the winning goal in a stunning 3-2 reverse win over defending champions Arsenal. She was also named Iceland’s Player of the Year.
