Tonight’s (Sept. 23) three hour episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with Swerve Strickland and New Level defending the AEW world trios championship against Ricochet and Gates of Agony (aka The Demand). The winning team moves on to defend the belts against Hangman Page and Brodido this Saturday night (Sept. 26) at the AEW All Out pay-per-view in Chicago.
You probably won’t be surprised to see that Kofi, Austin Creed, and Swerve beat Ricochet’s group and claimed that PPV spot.
Where things really got interesting is when Hangman’s group confronted the babyface champs after the match was over. Hangman suspiciously asked his old rival Swerve what he’s up to, and Creed interrupted to say Swerve has been nothing but great to him and Kofi. Brody King reminded New Level that Swerve has only been aligned with them for three weeks. Hangman said give it time, and Swerve will eventually show his true self.
Strickland had a sharp comeback, calling out Hangman’s hypocrisy and saying he’s no better.
