Liverpool FC defender Carter Pinnington is set for a permanent transfer to West Bromwich Albion, according to Academy-focused journalist Lewis Bower.
The 19-year-old spent 12 years in the Liverpool Academy set-up, playing as early as U7.
According to Bower, the centre-back had the opportunity to extend his contract at the club but opted to move on. He will reunite with former LFC centre-back Nat Phillips
at the Championship side.
Pinnington may have opted to move on after seeing Liverpool’s recent centre-back recruits at the youth level. January saw Mor Talla Ndiaye and Noah Adekoya arriving, while Ifeanyi Ndukwe is set to join from Austria Vienna this summer. Competition both in the youth squads and on the pathway to the first team would have been pretty intense, so perhaps Carter chose to move. All the best at West Brom, Carter, YNWA.
