After the Chicago Bears traded for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, we asked you to grade the trade, and most of you gave it high marks.
We obviously won’t know the true cost of the deal for a few years, but this is a win-now move for a team that feels it’s in a Super Bowl window. The Bears have the head coach and the quarterback they feel can win with, so sending a 2027 and 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fourth-rounder for Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick was
what it took to bring in a red-level talent for a defense lacking star power.
In his eight-year career, Simmons has been named to four Pro Bowls and three All-Pro Teams. He’s coming off a First Team All-Pro nod after racking up a career-high 11 sacks in 15 games for the Titans. The move from the one-win Titans to the 5-2 Bears will boost his profile and improve his chances of winning the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Our partners at FanDuel Sportsbook currently have those odds at +2000, which are the seventh-best.
The Bears play on prime time the next two weeks and have two more standalone games slated for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so if Simmons helps turn Chicago’s defense around, he’ll definitely be in the mix.
