Kentucky football is making a push to add immediate talent at wide receiver with Auburn standout Malcolm Simmons reportedly drawing interest from the Wildcats, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Simmons, a class of 2024 recruit out of Alexander City, Ala., played 292 offensive snaps as a true freshman in 2024 for Hugh Freeze’s Auburn squad, tallying 40 receptions for 451 yards and a punt return touchdown. As a sophomore, he added 25 receptions for 457 yards and three total touchdowns.
With two years of
eligibility remaining, Simmons is expected to enter the transfer portal next month, setting up a competitive SEC recruitment. Kentucky, under new head coach Will Stein, offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, and wide receivers coach Joe Price III, is actively in the hunt and expected to host a visit.
The Wildcats already boast a deep wide receiver room, including veterans Ashton Cozart (6-3, 197, RJr.) and Hardley Gilmore IV (6-1, 183, Jr.), along with talented underclassmen like DJ Miller and Cameron Miller. Kentucky also signed five high school prospects during the early signing period, but the staff is clearly looking to add an experienced, SEC-ready playmaker.
Simmons would provide a proven option to complement the existing talent and accelerate the development of younger receivers in the program. With the portal opening soon, Kentucky is positioning itself as a major contender to land the versatile receiver and strengthen its offensive arsenal heading into the 2026 season.
