Barcelona have offered an update on Fermin Lopez after the midfielder sustained an injury at the very end of Sunday’s 3-0 win over Getafe on Sunday.
Lopez has since undergone more tests and has been diganosed with a hip issue. Here’s the club’s official statement:
“The player Fermín López has an iliopsoas muscle injury in his left leg. He will be out of action for around three weeks. The midfielder came on the second half of Sunday’s 3-0 win over Getafe and was injured in the very last seconds of the game
at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.”
The news means that Lopez will miss forthcoming games against Real Oviedo, Real Sociedad and Sevilla in La Liga as well as the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The injury is another blow for Hansi Flick and his side, with Gavi now facing knee surgery and set for several weeks out as well.
It’s expected Lopez will return to action after the next international break in October.
