Larry Fitzgerald is one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game. The Hall of Fame receiver spent 17 seasons in the league and has been around many talented players, so he has had plenty of opportunity to see what it takes to play at an elite level.
Speaking with Paul Dehner Jr. recently, Fitzgerald had this to say about Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow:
“After practice, he was running extra routes with guys,” Fitzgerald said. “I was like, ‘Joe, I see why you are All-Pro. That’s why you got
that Heisman and you played in the Super Bowl.’ It’s very easy (to see).”
Fitzgerald was impressed with the work Burrow was putting in for a flag football game. He recognizes the type of mentality that Burrow possesses, which is what has led to his career success.
Fitzgerald went on to praise Burrow for bringing more attention to flag football, even going to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for help on making that happen.
“I was with him after the event, we were talking to Commissioner (Roger) Goodell. The ideas he has on growing flag football and expanding things in the league — he takes ownership.”
It’s no secret that Burrow loves flag football. He even hopes to play it at the highest level in the Olympics someday.
