Barcelona new signing Rodri has said he’s ready to return to action after signing for the club from Manchester City.
There have been doubts about the midfielder’s fitness as he underwent back surgery after winning World Cup 2026 with Spain, but Rodri says he is recovered and able to get to work with his new side.
“I’m ready to play now. The operation was nothing serious, it was an outpatient procedure,” he said at his unveiling.
“I hope to be able to train normally tomorrow. Whatever the manager deems
appropriate. I just need to finalize the transfer and get under Hansi’s orders as soon as possible.”
Barcelona are currently preparing to face Al Ahly on Wednesday in the Joan Gamper Trophy in what is a final friendly before the champions kick off the defence of their La Liga trophy at Elche on Sunday.
Rodri may need a little time to get back up to speed after only just returning to work after the World Cup, but his words suggest it may not be too long before we see him in action for Barcelona.
