Duke released its full basketball schedule, and, as usual with Jon Scheyer, it’s a tough one.
Duke starts with three challenging exhibition games. Belmont and Tennessee visit Durham, followed by a trip to Lawrence to take on the Jayhawks.
The regular season opens with a now-traditional game with Army, followed by Coastal Carolina. Both of those games are in Cameron, then it’s off to Chicago to play Michigan State.
Duke heads back home to play SIU Edwardsville, and then things get real very fast.
Duke
plays Illinois in Cameron, then it’s Washington State in California.
After that, it’s UConn in Vegas, then Florida in Gainesville in the ACC-SEC Challenge.
Duke great Tommy Amaker brings Harvard to Cameron after that, and then the Blue Devils tangle with Georgia in Madison Square Garden.
The holiday break games will be in Cameron and against Cameron and Grambling State, then it’s back to the Garden for a rematch with Texas Tech.
ACC play starts after that, with a trip to Atlanta to take on new-look Georgia Tech. Cal comes calling next, then the Blue Devils fly up to Syracuse, which should be interesting, given that Gerry McNamara’s Siena team gave Duke fits in March (McNamara is now the head coach at his alma mater).
Pitt and Stanford come to Cameron next, followed by a trip to Boston College to see what Luke Murray has going on.
Then Wake Forest at the Joel, followed by Notre Dame at home.
The trip to Clemson is always dangerous, and after that, Jai Lucas makes his first trip to Cameron as Miami’s head coach.
SMU in Dallas should be challenging, and after that, the Blue Devils welcome the new-look Tar Heels to Cameron.
Florida State brings its massive new center, Marci Ponder, to Cameron after that, followed by the traditional February out-of-conference tuneup, this year with Gonzaga in Detroit.
The home stretch features Louisville in the Yum! Center, NC State and Virginia in Cameron, followed by the traditional season-ending brawl with UNC, this year over in Chapel Hill.
