The season hasn’t officially started yet and we don’t have a really good grip on who Tennessee will start. Fortunately, this guy from Rocky Top Insider does, and Ryan Schumpert thinks this is their starting lineup Sunday night:
- Ja’Kobi Gillespie
- Bishop Boswell
- Nate Ament
- Jaylen Carey
- Felix Okpara
Notably, Okpara is the only returning starter. Both Gillespie and Boswell are transfers, as is Jaylen Carey. As we mentioned in our preview, Carey is the younger brother of former Blue Devil Vernon Carey. He’s built very much like his big brother, but so far hasn’t been as productive.
Ament of course is the star recruit, in fact the highest rated recruit in Tennessee history. Makes you wonder what people thought about Bernard King coming out of high school.
Anyway, as you might expect, Tennessee coach Rick Barnes will bring the beef with Okpara (6-11/243) and Carey (6-8/267).
It should be an interesting matchup for both teams and win or lose, Duke will learn a lot from this.
