We know that WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” is a fan of Donald Trump and his Presidencies. We knew that even before The Game accepted a leadership role on Trump’s Physical Fitness Council restart,
and did his famous water spit entrance at the White House for social media. That’s presumably only one of the things he does there, as reports say the job description for a 2025 WWE hire includes covering for Levesque when he’s in Washington, D.C. working for the Trump administration.
All of which is to say we weren’t exactly surprised to see a Triple H penned opinion piece on Fox News’ website this morning.
It’s not a political piece per se, although Haitch is writing within in his role for the President, and for one of Trump’s preferred media outlets. It also advocates for the return of the Presidential Fitness Test, which had been done away with in 2013 in favor of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program, emphasizing individual health more than comparisons to others’. Trump reinstated it by Executive Order last year.
Levesque writes about his own physical fitness journey, and how working out “illuminated a destination” for his life. He reminds us of the massive, and absolutely troubling, increases in the rate of childhood obesity. Some of the blame for that goes to one of the main targets of Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again” campaign, processed foods (we’d forgive you is you guessed vaccines). But Trips make sure to work in a shot at the schools… gotta support his mother-in-law’s mission to dismantle the Department of Education!
We’re allowing our kids to eat super-sized portions of ultra-processed food, and spend too much time on their butts, looking at screens. Kids don’t play outside anymore. Schools rarely instill the lifestyle practices to live healthy lives — exercise, proper nutrition and the inclination to challenge oneself.
He then closes by channeling D-X, but we guess with Trump in the HBK role…
A physical fitness regimen changes you as a person. It changes the trajectory of your life. So, I’m asking, on behalf of the president: are you ready?
Again none of this is surprising, nor is it particularly controversial, especially in comparison to a lot of the Trump administration’s efforts. Trump’s actions and behavior have led some — Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and presumably other less famous fans — to walk away from WWE. At a time when the most extreme Trump initiatives have Americans all but literally at war with each other, it’s worth wondering how many more the company’s continued ties to Trump will drive away… and whether WWE cares.
